Craft Central Dartford

Post  Bod on Fri 25 Jul 2008, 7:13 pm

Am gutted that our local store is due to close on Sunday. Come on the powers that be, let the branch get some stock in and keep them open.

There are lots of devastated crafters in the area.

I know, the girls in there set up a petition and faxed it to the boss, who did say he was so impressed he would put it to the board to perhaps give them a reprieve, I'm not too hopeful.

Unfortunately they hadn't been able to order in any stock for months so they didn't have a hope of improving their takings.

Ironically on Friday, two days before their closure date they had a delivery of all the new dovecraft Christmas range. Guess what. Within no time at all they had sold well over £200 worth of stock. It's not difficult to work out is it? Let them have new stuff in and they can sell it it thus increasing their takings.

I am so frustrated by the way they have dealt with this.

That is just backwards why spend money on setting up new stores when they have a perfectly good store already made. as crafters we like to see new things and get new ideas all the time. We are big spenders and most of us we have probably already bought all the stuff they had in already, of course we want new stuff. this is retail not rocket sience.
Such a crying shame. Well I will have to go to the Kraft shop in west kingsdown a whole lot more. Should help Her takings.

Good news.

They have had a reprieve, albeit with shorter opening hours.

I just hope the powers that be let them get new stock in so they can actually do something about the takings there.

I think it is fantastic news that Craft Central in Dartford is staying open, I am so pleased for Nikki and Cheryl as they have worked so hard and will continue to do so, they are dedicated to the store and their customers. I for one will continue to give my custom to them, and long may Craft Central in Dartford stay open.
Good luck to Nikki and Cheryl

Hear hear. I had a call from Cheryl today to let me know they were staying open and I forgot to ask her what the new opening times are. I plan to go in tomorrow if it is cool enough to venture out in this heat so will ask then and post the new opening times.

I would love to be in the store when the manager is in just to reinforce to her how great Nicky and Cheryl are.

I agree and will have to visit a whole lot more. It may break the bank for me but will prove to the powers to be that it is a great store with great staff and it should stay.
Well done in getting the reprieve girls, you have our full support just let us know if there is anything we can do to help. Very Happy

Thank you Andrea. We were so disappointed to see it was going to be closed. The girls in there are great and as you have seen have a great rapport with their customers, in fact Cheryl called me from home with the news last night to save the company on the business phone bill.

Please say that they will be having some new stock in the store. I regularly spend in the shop but that has dropped off over recent months purely because they have had nothing new in the store. Having spoken to other friends who shop there we all feel the same way. We go in ready to spend on the latest releases only to find nothing new in the store so we come out having spent significantly less than we might have done.

I look forward to seeing lots of lovely things to spend my money on again.

Craft Central Dartford

Post  Meg Doggies on Tue 29 Jul 2008, 6:10 pm

I am over the moon that the store is to remain open. I have made new friends and learnt new techniques at the regular Friday coffee mornings and now am looking forward to exchanging christmas card ideas using the lovely new christmas supplies that arrived last Friday the stocks of which were greatly reduced by the coffee morning regulars. I do hope that they will get a lot more new stock of everything and that anything we want that is not in stock can be ordered and received in the shortest time possible. Will see everyone on Friday at 11am.

You got logged in then Meg Doggies.

Just as I was leaving, another regular arrived with celebration cream cakes for the girls.

I left my two Christmas cards for the girls to put up as samples and had to buy the matching Winter Wonderland die cuts to go with the bits I bought last week. As if I hadn't spent enough

Wink

See you there soon

Glad to see your all supporting the Dartford Store, I am going to be running some more workshops both 2 hour ones and all day ones. I would be interested to hear your ideas of what things you would like to learn.
i ran an all day one recently which was a great success and enjoyed by all so lets get some more going and really put Dartford on the map

card stitching

Post  sue sharpe on Sun 03 Aug 2008, 5:23 pm

Hi everyone,

I went to the coffee morning on Friday for the first time and i really enjoyed meeting new people and sharing a different craft, we made a never ending card and had a lot of fun doing it. I am a card stitcher and would love to see some more stitching stencils in the store and also some stitching threads. I will be going again on Friday to learn how to make an exploding box. I am open to all new ideas.
Have fun,
sue
