Got my boy's 11 plus result this morning and he didn't pass unfortunately. He was always borderline so it was not a great surprise but his scores were much lower than even I was expecting.

He will at least be top of the heap at the Comprehensive down the road assuming he gets a place there.

Just need to tell him now, which I am not looking forward to.

So sorry Claire that William didn't pass. I haven't heard about Matthew's results which makes me think that the news is also not good but as long as they both did their best that is all you can expect of them. See you on Friday.

He was quite upset but settled down fairly quickly and we have been talking positively about the local comp. He was more upset that all the extra hard work he put in didn't come to anything rather than just the fact that he didn't pass.

Glad he can be positive. I have just had a phone call from Matthew and he has passed - he is over the moon. My neice has only recently got in from work so has only just found out. She now has to visit his school to see just how well he has done as this will influence the first choice of senior school. Will see you on Friday at the "free for all" coffee morning.

Had a call from the school today to tell me that they had given me the wrong scores breakdown yesterday. It doesn't change the result but his scores do reflect what I would have expected him to have achieved. So he missed the mark by a much much smaller margin.

Been a busy bee this afternoon. My K and Co paper pack arrived from QVC yesterday and after a flash of inspiration I have made a couple of lovely little handmade books. They might be nice to do at our newly formed group. I got the idea from the zoom albums stall at Ally Pally the other week. I thought the little hardback book kits they sold were a lovely idea and I was certain I could do something along similar lines myself.

Anyway, I have made two, tweaking bits here and there, I think by the time I have made the third one I will have cracked it. Looking forward to showing them off on Friday.

Am looking forward to learning to make the mini book but not this Friday Claire. This Friday is Christmas and a non crafting meeting - the only thing you need to bring is yourself, the £2 present and your suggestion for the new name for the group (there is a magnificant prize Laughing Laughing provided by me for the name chosen ). We are going to be cheerful and positive and nobody must mention that the shop is closing a couple of days later. Hopefully by Friday we will have good news of our new venue and life on Fridays will continue albeit slightly different. I kept promising myself this weekend that I would get on with making my christmas cards but kept getting sidetracked - well maybe this coming week .......

Oh yes, I know it won't be this Friday. I worded my last message a little poorly and didn't make it very clear.

Am struggling for inspiration for a name for the group so I don't expect I shall be winning that little competition. Magnificent prize or not ;o)

Off to Sheffield Park today with Hubby and son in the hope that there are still some lovely Autumnal colours left on the trees. The selfish side of me wants to work on mark four of my little book to see if I can make it perfect this time. Ho hum.

Speak soon.

Post  chez on Wed 05 Nov 2008, 3:46 pm

Just to say goodbye and so long from us girls at the Dartford Store.....

We have packed up and closed the store over the last few days, and wanted to say a big thank you to all our lovely customers. We met some great people, many of whom will remain friends and stay in touch, and we thank you all for everything.

Couldn't go without a special thank you to our coffee morning girls.... long may "The Kentish Crafters" reign!!

Take care all

Just a quickie to let you know that the ex Dartford Craft Central coffee morningers (now called Kentish Crafters) now have a thread on the Trimcraft website's forum and all are welcome to post there.
