facing 45 LO
this is a LO I completed this week for a challenge from another forum
I was facing my 45th birthday at the beginning of March and moaning about it
but when my birthday came we went up Beacon fell and had loads of fun
taking photos of each other pulling faces near the big stone face sculpture
then we toke some lovely shots of scenery
it put the whole thing into perspective really
then I realised its just another number
and if i was a tree its just another ring

Facing 45 LO
I know exactly what you mean, I'm facing the dreaded 50 next week and I have to say that although I
am not very happy about it, I really did feel much worse just before 40. My husband has booked for us
and the two daughters to go to Amsterdam for the weekend and I am dreaming of craft shops and photos
for scrapbooking pages!!!!
As you say it is only another ring and I am told they have diamonds in Amsterdam so maybe........ no
probably not!!!

Re: facing 45 LO
Oh yes they do have diamonds in msterdam but the best place to go is Gassan diamond factory they staff in there are wonderful plus you get shown round and told how they shape the diamonds its great you can get to try on rings or any other jewellery. its up to you if you buy they dont push you at all.
Also there is a lovely stamp shop just off the rokin shopping pedestrian area. its a very long walk way from the flower market to dam square. google map it. posthuemus its called.
There is also papier shop which is on the road across from the flower market where the delft tower is go on the road along the waterside there and its on your right quite far along but not as far as the big road bridge. hope this helps you. Gassan is over the big road bridge

Re: facing 45 LO
Not ever in our lifetime unfortunately.
Amsterdam is my favourite place I have now been 7 times I stay in the same small family hotel its called the Hotel Asterisk its up by the Heinekan brewery at wettering circle there is also a small pub on the corner called Mulders its great typically dutch not touristy. also a restaraunt called pete de leuff its down a side road on the same side as mulders about the 3rd or 4th road towards the centrum.
If I could afford it I would actually have a flat there so I can go when I want to go. I have never found alot of craft shops certainly not round the tourist area. but you will love the buzz of life there but a word of warning PICK POCKETS ARE RIFE!!!!!! Especially at the Central station.
Have a great time

Oh while I remember beside the Krasnapolsky which is the huge hotel at dam square look for a big yellow clogg beside a tourist shop go down the alley there and about 100-150 metres down that road is a small wine bar Bubbles and Wine it has red candles hanging it is a lovely friendly wine bar if your into wine you should go Robert owns it but friends of ours have an interest in it.

Hi Susic,
Well I am back from Amsterdam and we had a wonderful time. I certainly want to go back
as it wasn't long enough! We stayed in a small hotel just 100 yards from the papier shop
you mentioned. I also made the family look for the stamp shop which we eventually found,
they had some lovely things in there and not at all what I was expecting to find. Nothing by
Avec anywhere!! Didn't see any pickpockets, smelt loads of cannibis oozing from the many
coffee shops and saw a car crash into a tram. Other than that it was a hectic but very nice
long weekend and I celebrated my 50th in great style!
