papermania rub ons

Post  debs on Wed 13 Aug 2008, 10:44 pm

has anyone experienced problems with the above? I bought some at half price from my local Boyes store, thought io had got a great bargain until I started to use them on my cards and realised they would not rub on, some parts came off others just left a film outline on my card leaving the coulour firmly attached to the backing paper, I took thm back and was gievn a refund, but they ruined a couple of cards I had made as they were to be used as finishing touches! Crying or Very sad

Oh no! what a nightmare. Was it a newish release rub on or an older one that might have been in the shop for a while? I don't know whether they are affected by age and temperature changes these days as the old transfer sheet we had as kids used to be.

I had a mishap with a rub on a couple of weeks ago (definitely down to me and not the rub on). It's amazing what you can salvage by covering with sticky ribbon or a matted and layered greeting.

Wonder if it was a faulty batch or maybe been in the cold for too long and had perished the rub on causing it to be brittle ?? Sorry to hear it ruined your projects I really hate it when that happens Sad (((HUGS))))

I have had problems with rub ons in the past could not say what make they were for sure, I always thought it was either me or that they may have been old stock.
I just took delivery of my purple box from creativity life which includes a rub on tool that looks very wizzy (compared to the old lolly stick tool) and I am hoping that it will help me out in the future.
I know what you have suffered and wish you better luck for the future.

thanks for your reply, would have thought if they have a 'use by date' this should be displayed on the pack, perhaps taht is why they were half price, but they could give them away if they are too old to use and they would still not be worth having!! I think I may write to papermania and ask about shelf life.

That's a good point about a use by date. I don't know if you have to put use by dates on though if the product is not food based or pharmaceutical.

It would be interesting to see what papermania have to say on the subject.

Have a look on the Docrafts website. One of the forums has a "sticky" about papermania rub ons.
