Where do you do your crafting?

Post by craftytom on Sun 06 Apr 2008, 11:07 pm

Do you have a room, a corner or just a table or do you have to put your projects away everytime you stop?

I thought it would be interesting to know where everyone does their crafting. Smile

where do you craft?

Post by craftysteph on Mon 07 Apr 2008, 9:21 am

Hi I craft in our spare room, on my camping table and it is full of lovely crafty stash in the chests of drawers, bookshelf etc... yes my husband said I could use this room and I share it with a wardrobe, several suitcases and a built in cupboard full of books....(mmmm may need to "acquire" this at some point), yes I am very lucky to have a crafty space Very Happy

I use the spare bedroom, only there isn't a bed in it any more Very Happy just the computer and my craft table. My table is huge, it is a table top bought from IKEA with a frosted glass panel in it so that I can put a light underneath and emboss.

It started off as a very tidy place but we all know that doesn't last don't we Mad

we turned out 3rd bedroom into an office when O/H was working from home. He doesn't any more so it's become the computer/craft room. I have a large old fashioned desk and a couple of shelves.

It's great - I can really spread out Smile

I craft on a tray on my lap. i have a great unit right beside me at the sofa but no desk so a tray it is. It make me stay tidy. It also means I get to buy lots of great storage jars etc to ensure my craft area looks beautiful. It has its plus side. flower

Used to have the computer downstairs and it was on a lovely big table, then we redecorated the living room so I said we should move the computer upstairs for the kids.... it's still up there and we finished the living room months ago!!! So I am camped out in the living room with the desk full of stash and drawers full of papers ... not to mention the tuto, papermania and plastic storage boxes , and yes they are all in the living room too lol! But it's good for me cos I can watch telly, craft and play with the kids in the middle of a project cos I don't have to put it away every time.

we striped out the bathroom as no one used it that was for an office as i worked from home and hubby needed an office too, my crafting then took over but when my son moved out just over a month ago ive gone into his room which i love as it has a big window and watch the birds.

I had to take over a corner of the bedroom, my hubby was complaining about glitter in the kitchen I thought he was just being picky untill I made my sons sandwiches for school and there was red glitter on them. I moved straight away

lol Ang.

I started with the dining room table. However, I am slowly spreading across the whole living room. Hubby has suggested I use the spare room. Which will be great but......will it be big enough!!!

I don't have a craft table so use my ironing board as I can adjust it to the right height for watching tv whilst I craft.

Hey it also delays me having to do the ironing - like I need an excuse. Laughing

So I take it you have more than one bathroom as this seems a little strange. Either that or personal hygine is a bit slack in your place lol!

I am really lucky, last summer my husband and I gutted my huge shed (used years ago for breeding guinea
pigs and rabbits). We boarded it out, laid carpet, installed electrics, double glazed it and gave it the full
works. It is my workroom, houses all my 12 years collection of crafty bits, and I am now able to teach at
home cardmaking and scrapbooking. Its really good having a huge table which doesn't have to be cleared
every night and have everything to hand. I'd probably be lying if I said that all my crafty bits were out of
the house. There's always a little space on the dining room table...........

no one used the bath ever, we have a showeroom that also has toilet and basin in thats upstairs and a cloakroom toilet basin downstairs. there was an extension added for a granny flat way before we moved in and they had put in a bathroom toilet and basin in for her. although with my old bones i feel i could do with a bath back now

Where Do you craft

Post by Denise Warburton on Fri 11 Apr 2008, 4:07 pm

I'm really lucky when we moved house my husband converted a spare bedroom into a craft room with shelves and built in desktop etc. I spend loads of time in there, my husband thinks he's only married part time now.
Now I can't remember how I managed before. I've also discovered I have far more stash than I thought, now its all to hand and I can see it, I have stuff I'd forgotton I'd bought
