cricut expressions

Post by susic on Mon 14 Apr 2008, 4:32 am

Can anyone who has one of these machines please tell me whats my brother and his wife could be doing wrong or is the machine not working properly?

They bought their machine about 2 and a bit weeks ago, and have been at odds with it ever since, everytime they cut any kaind of paper or card it is snagging and tearing the paper, they have read the instructions and dealt with the pressure and tension dial. but no change the only way they can get it to cut in a satisfactory way is if the cut with the card up the wrong way so if its white on one side and red on the other they stick the red side down and cut in reverse mode. Surley this isn't correct?????

Any ideas anyone please advise

I have mine on the slow speed setting most of the time so try that, also the length of the blade needs to be checked too. Possibly some fibres off the paper could be snagged inside the blade housing so the blade cant cut properly, to check remove the blade housing and very very carefully turn upside down and press the blade release (the knobbly thing at the top. The blade should then protrude out you can either pull it out and have a really good clean of it or if there is obvious fibres just pluck them away. Whenever mine does this it's cutting too fast or the blade needs cleaning hope this helps.

snag and tears on cricut

Post by mandy hague on Sun 20 Apr 2008, 8:20 am

Hope this helps,
make sure your mat is absolutely clean of all cut out pieces and any large fibres as this can make the blade tear and snag the paper. Have you tried taking the blade out and putting it back in. I find if you hold the green blade holder upside down and let the blade just drop in this seems to work. Smile
Can't remember if you have tried a new blade, try it again anyway and see.

Have you been trying to cut anything odd like glitter card? this can blunt the blade very quickly, also handmade and mulberry paper not very good, won't be using them again Embarassed

Once you have done all these things, try putting a piece of Paper Mania Card stock in, set blade depth to 6, pressure to 5 and speed to 4.
please let me know if this works, if not I will try and think of something else, you might need to talk to me at the Royston Shop 01763 262845

Good luck,

mandy
