craft shops

Post by Christine 1 on Tue 01 Jul 2008, 8:25 pm

Hi there, sorry that I haven't been on for a long time, I have been so busy at work that I am getting home exhausted. Also I have had a couple of personal upsets & felt like doing nothing at all, still trying to get over it now but I am on holiday next week & a lot of people say I need this break - which brings me to here!!!

I am going up to Blackpool & the Lake District (Keswick area) and of course I am in need of some great craft shops not only in that area but a good excuse to make the journey up there (and back) not so long & spend some money on route. I will be going up (will give you area's that would be easier for those who don’t' drive) passing Southend (as I am in Southend on Sat night with a friend) then over to ..........oh help I can't rem. Ok lets do the journey home that is easier as I am staying with relatives on route up.

Ok coming home from Blackpool the M6 down to Birmingham then the M40 to Oxford & then the A34 through Newbury.

If anyone has any great shops in any of the area's that you could pass onto me I would be grateful.

Hope to hear from you soon

Catch you later

Christine xx

Ok, first you need to forget about Blackpool
Get to Fleetwood,(M6-M55, first turn off to Fleetwood) tell your OH the market there has lots of mens cloaths, a computer stall, DIY etc.........the stall with the craft stash is easy to find, and husbands are easy to loose. Your first craft shop is opposite the clock tower(on the same street as the market) There is a handy cafe that you can sit him in or even a pub that you pass on the way there.
Next you visit Freeport an outlet site , The "Word" and a "paper selling shop" are almost opposite each other with a "regata" outdoor shop for him to explore or he could sit and enjoy the Marina.
Does he enjoy gardening? if so tell him there is a great nursary called Burnside nursary near a realy cute/old windmill that is a tourist attraction( it also has some very nice shops one of which is a craft shop. When you get to the nursary, leave him to the plants and visit Craft Central (which is inside the nursary....clever us northeners )
If you get to craft central, ask for larrie, I work there.
see you soon and enjoy your holiday

Hi Larryal, unfortunately i wasn't able to get on the internet while i was away, did try using Lakeland Plastics internet but it was so so slow that i gave up - so only just got your message today when i returned.

Shame cos it would of been nice to meet up..................um trying to think what shops i went to in the end cos i went to so many but .................now did i go to Craft Central..................i think i did.........yes i did cos i went to the 'Burnside garden centre.

Perhaps i did see you there i went on the ...............Wednesday in the end and when i arrived there were 3 people sitting at the desk crafting and i was walking around on a stick (does that help?)

Anyway i had a great hol & thanks for all your help on any of the craft shops that you gave me with regards to ideas. FOund loads more than i thought & yes spent loads as well.

Went to Dawn Bibby's shop as well & did anyone know that she has another shop about 1/2 mile down the road, i didn't until i got to her 'first' shop & her new shop is twice as big - but most of the stuff in the new shop you can get in the old shop as well.

Found a few on route back as well so guess what looks like i have to go back to work to get some money as i am rather broke!!!

Catch you later

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and found lots of goodies, it sounds like you went to CC in the morning as I was there from 1.00pm-5.30pm and did'nt get a chance to sit and craft. Laughing

I've never been to Dawn Bibbys shop, how close is to me and is it worth a trip out?
see you next time
