That New Stampbord Stuff... !
I've been testing it out and I have to say I've fallen in love with the new Stampbord stock in our store!!
I never thought I'd care much for it when it came in but wanted to have a play, so here I am at home making some samples up for the Kingsley store nd figured I'd share some of the results here, so people can see what you can do with it.
I think the simple approach works beautifully if I may say so !
For the black images I used Anita's Pig stamp and Whisper's Butterfly Stamp and also the smaller butterflies are some old promo stamps from Trimcraft (the clear view ones in our dump bins).
What I did was stamped up my bakground using three different Versacolor stamps (the mini ones from Personal Impressions) and allowed it to dry (helped with a heat gun lol
) and then carefully used stazOn ink for the main stamp image. Once this is dry (it doesnt take long!) I worked into the image using a scraper tool (you can use the tool that is used in the Scraper Foils you get from Royal Brush or there are some tools that are bought from us in our stampbord section) to highlight the areas that are showing as white. On the pig I used the tool with several points on it to shade, and then the blade tool to etch into the image more boldly. I've etched the details like grass and clouds in the same fashion and added some pen detail on the pig's cheek in pink permanant marker.
The Sheep one was a free-hand image, firstly stamped up the block with four versamark stamps in a gradiant for the grassland and the sky (2 greens and 2 blues), then highlighted the fields very lightly with the multi point tool and the clouds were done using a fibreglass brush and the blade tool. Sheep were done in the same way, and legs and heads added with a blue permanant pen
I've also done freehand drawn chicken and cockeral, but I don't like it very much! haha but I've posted it anyway. This was done solely in Whisper's Strokes Brush Markers and then etched with the same tools where appropriate

Hi Nici,
These are fantastic I love what you have done with the different effects, I am not a lover of the cockerels either but I wish I could draw freehand like that. Brilliant job

Re: That New Stampbord Stuff... !
Yeah... since I get asked quite often about ducks and chickens and we never have anything in stock for that theme I wanted to do something different. But oh well, trial and error eh
not my thing either. I love my chickens though, they lay wonderfuleggs for us. I find them very pretty actually and our cockerel is so handsome. XD But my drawing here looks kind of evil! haha!
thanks for your comment
Was just looking at your cards in the card gallery thread, sooo lovely!

Nici, your so clever. You have inspired me to have a go with the stampbord now. I think i may need a little bit of coaching from the master (which you have obviously become) heheehe
I especially love the sheep one. xxxx

Hi
Some gorgeous examples here - I especially like the Mona Lisa one.
I bought some Stampbord a while ago (probably about 18 months ago - or more) and have only used it a coupl eof times since. The work on here has insspired me to dig it out and have another go.
You can also punch through it with the crop-a-dile so could use the smaller pieces for pendants etc

Background Inking
I love the blended inks effects to the stamped images on your examples hokey kokey. What are "disress inks" and how do you blend them so nicely.
Re: That New Stampbord Stuff... !
Distress Inks are made by Ranger/ Tim Holtz. They are a water based ink that blends beautifully. you can make gorgeous backgrounds as well as stamping with them. There are about 2 dozen colours in the range from soft pastels, neutrals to vibrant colours. I find that the best way to apply them is with Cut n Dry Foam because it blends and layers the colours so easily. Hope this helps a bit - there are plenty of sites on the web that show examples.
