Hi Thomas, altered art is turning any ordinary object into a work of art, so a domino could be stamped and altered to make a peice of jewellry or an old tin can be distressed and inked to make something totally unique and different, Tim Holtz is very into altered art and it is catching on over here in a big way. Hopefully we will get some pics posted and you can have a look. Very Happy

Altered Dominoes

Post by hokeycokey on Sat 22 Mar 2008, 12:11 am

Here are three alteres dominoes that I wear as pendants.

Three different techniques L-R:
1. Tree silhouette drawn freehand using Sharpies (permanent markers).
2. Metallic marbled effect using alcohol inks.
3. Decorative backing paper triple-embossed with clear powder for a gloss finish.

Altered Box

Post by hokeycokey on Sat 22 Mar 2008, 12:16 am

I altered this little MDF 'book' box into an Egyptian treasure box. It is covered and lined with embossed heiroglyphic papers. The edges have been inked and 'gilded'. Inside is a decoupage image (Joanna Sheen Egyptian Adventure). The little brass handle adds a finishing touch.

Altered Tin

Post by hokeycokey on Sat 22 Mar 2008, 12:21 am

This seaside memory tin started out as a mint tin. I painted and collaged it and embossed it with clear UTEE. Inside are more collage, pearl buttons and shells encased in a deep layer of clear UTEE.

Altered Book

Post by hokeycokey on Sat 22 Mar 2008, 12:25 am

I turned this children's board book into a special recipe book. It has been sanded, covered with paper, inked, distressed and embellished with charms, etc. Inside I cut a window through the pages to accomodate a small glass bottle full of the 'secret ingredient'.
