These are really clever ideas!!! I like the little memory book and tin, and the pendants are gorgeous!!! I shall have to look around at what I can use to alter!!! Maybe some carboot sales would be a good idea

Considering I didn't even know what "altered art" was I think this is a realy good idea. Its making things that would normaly be thrown away into things to be treasured for years to come. I especially like the Mint Tins. GREAT IDEA!

I think that the nearest I've got to altered art has to be my little ATC box. This was a plain box I decorated with a variety of stickers and pictured here with an ATC from Terri:

There you go, roo - you are an altered artist! Your box is very nice. You could add some colour with inks or paint, or distress the edges to age it. anything goes so go with the flow - part of the fun is not quite knowing what you will end up with when you've finished

hokeycokey, I'll have you know you've set me off...
I've just found a round box that's going to get the treatment! But Easter Sunday is a bad day to discover you really, really, really desperately need a jewelled brad

Re: ALTERED ART.....
we are going to be doing a Mosaic demo in a next couple of weeks at Crowland and thought about covering some of the Plastic ATC and BC boxes with the titles, do you think this would be altered art?

I don't see why not! All types of media are included in the 'altered art' bracket. You could line the boxes with co-ordinating papers or mix charms/beads amongst the mosaics if you wanted to develop the idea further. Good luck with the demo - post a pic of the finished projects on here when you're done. I'd love to see them.

Re: ALTERED ART.....
I'm glad this thread is 'demystifying' altered art - most crafters seen to have already done it without knowing

Re: ALTERED ART.....
Amaizing isn't it how so many people have done this and not realised, I thought I was just recycling when I did it, we used cereal boxes to make sky scrapers for a background seanery of a play. And now i have all my embellies & stamps etc it would be easier to do wouldn't it?
