Idont think he liked anyone he did stand and chat to my dad for a long time the one and only time he was ever in our shop and that was January for the opening. Dad said he certainly knows whats hes talking about as dad had had shops for 30 years but then he noticed things that I had told him about and he said that stupid he will lose money doing that and so it started. then the king was just the fax man or phone man after that, to us Melissa was our boss and she was sooooooo good at it, we could ask her stupid questions and she didnt get on at us, she would explain stuff better than the faxes.

Hi, just come off of the phone after speaking to the Redundancy Payment Service, spoke to a very nice lady. Have been told that once the claim form is received by the office, 78% of payments are made within 3 weeks if any further checks are to be made about the company it may take up to 6 weeks. Payslips are only a guide line, she said just to fill in the form best you can because it will all be checked as they have all of the company's records.

Re: EX STAFF INFO
I've had my forms through and guess what, mine is wrong too. According to my wage slip I'm only entitled to half of my holidays and I'm short in my weekly hours. Typical when you want a job doing right do it yourself.
According to Dan he'll be back running craft shops again soon. Our store is hopefully being re-opened in january and he has been telling people he'll be buying into that one first. I really hope not because our garden centre is a third generation family business, I wouldn't want anything to happen to them. I also wouldn't want to start working for them only to leave again because he took over. I will never again work for Dan King, I would rather be unemployed.
I also think it's wrong to demand people don't advertise other forums on here you start to sound like Dan, he liked to dictate.

Hi, Happy New Year!
Sorry I do disagree, I was one of the people who was advertising my own forum on here, but this was only as I could not contact Admin (no reply). When I had a reply I was more than happy to remove the posts.
I would not like someone to advertise their forum on mine.
Thanks

Re: EX STAFF INFO
Just found this on www.diyweed.net whilst trawlling :-
"Craft Central directors file for administration
The directors of Craft Central have placed the business in administration.
Craft Central operates a concession business in garden centres and was set up in 1998 by former Decco md Mike Bateman and former Homebase marketing director Dan King.
Mr Bateman stepped down as a director and company secretary in September 2008. Current directors include Mr King and Henry Stone, former md of the paintbrush maker Mosley-Stone.
Diyweek.net visited one of the concessions, at Knights Garden Centre in Godstone, Surrey, this morning, only to find it closed three weeks ago, suggesting the business has been consolidating or winding down for a while. Phone calls to the company's head office in Manchester go unanswered.
The company only filed abbreviated accounts for the 07/08 financial year, but figure for the 06/07 period show a turnover of just over £5m (up from £3.2m the year before) and a gross profit of £2.6m (up from £1.6m).
The news comes after rival Hobbycraft reported an annual profit increase of 10%.
Rescue and recovery specialist Leonard Curtis was appointed last month and gave the following startement to diyweek.net:
"Andrew Poxon and John Titley, directors at national corporate recovery firm Leonard Curtis, were appointed Joint Administrators for Craft Central Limited on 23rd December 2008. The business is continuing to trade from a number of sites and the administrators are in discussions with a number of interested parties."
Where did all the ££millions go??!!
