Re: Craft Cental dead and buried
I wonder how many more lives they are going to ruin.
I worked at the Bristol store, and loved every minute of it. The hours were great and it fit in with my child. I made some great friends. My confidence soared. And I would wonder how I managed to get a such a perfect job like this. It didn't feel like a job, until Dan or Pat turned up, which i could honestly say in the 18 months the store was open they visited us about 6 times, we were left to ourselves, we had to work everything out ourselves. Or phone the cardiff girls, How are you all?
The bristol store closed on the 23rd, when i got home that nite, hubby told me he was also getting his hours reduced from a 5 day week to a 4 day week. Panicking now as I can't pay the rent, And to top it all off I had a letter from jobseekers to say I can't claim any money as I haven't been working for 2 yrs and not paid enough NI, (I was a stay at home mum for nearly 18 yrs before this job)
So yes you have ruin my life, I have more stress now than I every did. I am now paying the price for working for Dan and Pat, They definitely have no people skills what so ever, Dan just baffles people with rubbish and they will agreed to anything to shut him up. I felt sorry for the head office staff, having to put up with the both of them.
But on another note: Congrats to Sally, our own glitter girl, She starts her new job on Monday, xx Best of luck hun
I finally sent my redundancy form off Monday, I tried getting hold of Admin on several occasions, to try and work out how to fill in the form, as my hours were very erratic, as i had no set hours, But give up with them in the end and hopefully filled it in right, fingers crossed.

Well, if Mr. "Charm" himself is behind the till, not many customers will go back for a second visit, unless it's armed with a blunt object! I don't imagine that he is behind the counter though, is he? I assumed that he and Pat lived near HQ, Cardiff would be a bit far to travel every day, and isn't Ashon trading based in Hants. they also go under the name of bargains.uk.com and their craft website is www.papercraft4you.co.uk
They tend to peddle a lot of cheap stuff at various exhibitions, I've seen them at GMEX, kind of market trader/car booter (no offence meant to anyone out there who does that kind of thing, just to give you an idea of where they are pitched as traders) I mean, those of us who worked for CC know what the philosophy was with the Aston stuff when it arrived - pile it high and sell it cheap -classy!

stores closed
I went to Derby today, to have a look at how they were getting on etc.
The doors were padlocked, and a sign read ' Closed until further notice'.
Spoke to the garden centre, they told me the company had gone into administration, but the store had only closed a couple of days ago.
I worked at Burton until we were closed before xmas.
Can't claim jobseekers either, as not enough NI contributions.
We were all mushrooms.

Re: Craft Cental dead and buried
I am wondering if the Altrincham and Derby store have shut because someone has bought the stock from the administrators, if so I wouldn't be surprised if it was Mr and Mrs King themselves. I too hope that if they ever have anything to do with the craft business again that everyone who knows what the staff have been through because of them don't buy anything from them so hopefully any future businesses willbe short lived.
Good luck to all ex staff you were the backbone of that company and without you they would have folded a long time ago.
