Cricut and expressions inspiration

Post by Guest on Fri 14 Mar 2008, 11:56 pm

Could anyone with any projects they have carried out with either of these machines please post pics to help to get my creative juices flowing stating the cartridges used and media. I am waiting for my local craft central to take receipt of mine and am looking which cartridges to buy.
Also anyone with any pearls of wisdom such as not using your best papers on the first attempt with anew mat as they can be a bit tricky to lift the die would also be much appreciated. Thank you and happy crafting

I did 2 cards and a scrapbook page with disney carts for issue 8 of craft now really enjoyed using bright colours did find the disney carts a little more fiddly with pieces and best not to cut too small but end results are worth it. Smile

How not to ruin your paper

Post by shevix on Sun 16 Mar 2008, 6:06 pm

Hi, I use card first on a new mat, by having two mats on the go use the new one for card which is easier to get off the mat, once the mat is less stickier then use your paper on that mat and card on the other.. hope this helps have fun Wink

right tools make a better job1

Post by Sheila CC Kingsley on Sun 16 Mar 2008, 7:07 pm

Hi Luelle, Sheila here from Kingsley Store, I own the expression. Great machine, it is best to have the right tools for the job. They make things a lot easier for removing the card/paper from the cutting mat. Also have a couple of cutting mats on the go, they will last a lot longer. I have heard that a low tac adhesive spray will also make them last a bit longer, be careful though, not to overdo the spray it could clog up. Very Happy

Another thing you can do to make the mats last a bit longer is wash them, i heard of two ways but only tried the one myself, wash in warm soapy water and leave to dry, this is the one i've tried wash in warm soap water and dry with a hair dryer, as washing removes some of the fibres that are stuck to your mat, another tip is if you are only going to be cutting out say a piece about 2" only use a piece that measures 2 1/2" so that you are not taking any tacky away from the rest of the mat, hope this makes sense

Only a few more days to go no till mine arrives, I'm thinking of buying one of those kitchen trolley things to stash it on so I have more room. It seems the more storage I buy the more stash I have lol. Have decided to get the paper dolls cart when mine comes in store as suggested by Tracy and Susic ty ladies keep it coming

1st Expression project

Post by Guest on Thu 20 Mar 2008, 10:04 pm

Well here you are ladies my first card using the expression... I know the front of the card has a blank area in the top left hand corner but this is so the customer can add a photograph in a heart frame (i have made the frame) of the little girl. The frame is the same design as the inside left of the card only larger, the letterring was done by playing with the shadow feature doing the same letter twice but using shadow the second time around in a different colour. The white lettering has been "frosted" with glamour dust and the slimmer letters have been overlaid in pearlescent pink. All card from this design comes from the paper cellar collection except for the bacgroung on the front which came from a papermania designer kit I got in a bag and was originally a 12" by 12". The bear is the only thing not from craft central and I have really had fun playing with the different features so far.

A lot of our customers buy K and Co Liquid Adhesive to rejuvenate their Cricut mats. Its a repositional glue that dries to a tacky finish. Just spread it over your mat, leave to dry overnight and you're ready to go.
