Star trek card

Post by Guest on Tue 01 Apr 2008, 11:57 pm

Hi all, well since I got my expressions have had a few orders now but I have an unusual request .... to make a star trek card!!! It has to be from the original series and its for a 50th from a male. I have found some images at startrekanimations.com which I can paste and print and I am thinking of using multiple layers of images in a decoupage style. My question is has anyone else done a star trek or sci-fi card for anyone?? If so I would love to hear any tips you picked up and indeed any materials specific to this kind of project which you found useful (e.g for fairy cards you would use glamour dust and so on).
Any thoughts gratefully appreciated as I don't simply want to print one off and assemble it !! Happy crafting and I will post the finished product on this thread when I am done.

What an original request! I would probably make a mini book or accordian card. Use the images you have found and some famous quotes from the show.......to boldly go where no man has gone before........, captains log stardate 2008......., live long and prosper........, etc - if you get my drift! Hope this helps or inspires you - can't wait to see what you come up with Very Happy

Not that I've tried it, but encaustic art could give you some dramatic backgrounds, if you have the materials.

It is for the 16th so really need it finished by the 15th ... I think that should be plenty of time. I'll do you a swap for something if you'd like anything in my stash within reason (not my expression lol! ) or I could make you something in return ? It would be very kind of you to do that, do you think you could have them done and down to me in time ?? Do you have any pics I could see ??

As my husband is a also a “treckie” I think this is a great idea and I shall defiantly keep it mind for his birthday

How about a pop out card with the star maps on the inside and a enterprise ship suspended in the middle with clingon, vulcon etc phrases around the card such as

qoSlIj yItIv! Happy Birthday! in clingon

Dif-tor heh smusma,
Live long and prosper

Wow Larrie what a great idea using Klingon language for a message or using one of the phrases in Klingon just what a true fan would appreciate...but would it be appropriate in a fan of the original show as my brief is to create something based on the original series but not so original as to include the very first captain !!!

With that kind of a brief the world is vast!
Both Vulcan’s and Klingons appeared in the first series and were developed in later series, you might also include
Borg
vaghep li'uzh voq ghiH twe bachvaghep li'uzh bish lwevaghep li'uzh bar lweqra tagheb wahul voq ghiH
1) We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Resistance is futile.

From “Deep Space nine” Bajoran
“Peldar Joi” - greeting used during the Gratitude Festival(I think a birthday would count as that)

Or you could make your own up in the “style of” try www.startrek.com/startrek/view/store/news/article/2303263.html?page=2 - 37k - Cached

Wow Larrie I shall be paying a visit to that tomorrow thank you so much, I would do it now only I am tired and just finished another bespoke card .... although is it really bespoke when a client views a pre existing card and says " I'll have that one only in different colours" ? . Can you tell I am tired I am starting to waffle Laughing I think of something funny for him as the client wants the card to have a humorous twist.

Thought I would post a quick update on where I am up to with this card I decided on the acordian style as suggested and found some lovely foil paper very 80's lol..........and the wording reads "Happy Birthday" in Klingon as suggested.

The other good thing is I finally found a use for that ribbon and star eyelets !!!
