email subscription on home page

As im new to this website and forum i am wondering if i am doing something wrong as i cannot sign up for the newsletters on the home page. i get an error stating my email addy is invalid! I have spelt it correctly with the @ sign and . in the correct place but it just wouldnt take it. Not sure whats wrong as i used the same email addy to sign up for the forum and that worked ok.
Any suggestions?
