ATC Swap at carlisle and Gourock

Post by melissa on Mon 17 Mar 2008, 12:29 am

Both Carllisle and Gourock run ATC swaps, they both have boards that you stick your ATC on and you take one that you would like.. Very Happy

That's a great idea! And much easier - what kind of board did you use?

That would be good for Hawley too, if I can persuade the others. I'm the only one there that makes ATCs. Sad

I used to work at Craft Central in Gourock (had to give it up as I spent more than I earned!! lol). We used a piece of mountboard and used the cricut to make a title.

I have to try and organise an ATC swap for Wakefield so really interested in how you all set it up .
Do the customers just come in and swap whenever, do you set a theme say for a month ????.
I have had good feed back from customers about this , and our regional manager Anne has said go for it Very Happy
It will be nice to see others work

I will try and get things started at Hawley Jane. The mountboard idea and cricut title sound good. Hopefully if the customers and other staff see it they will get interested bounce

JUST START WITH A FEW AND THE BOARD SOON GROWS, ITS REALLY NICE TO SEE EVERYONES DIFFERENT STYLES AND IT GETS PEOPLE CHATTING. YOU CAN JUST LET PEOPLE COME ANYTIME OR YOU CAN HAVE A SPECIAL SWAP DAY WHEN EVERYONE CAN GET TOGETHER TO SWAP. YOU SHOULD DEFFINITLY START ONE IT WILL CATCH ON REALLY QUICK.... bounce

Thanks for the encouragement Melissa. I have the mountboard ready to decorate and hopefully the board will be up in the store next week. I thought I would put a little note up to see if customers would be interested in an ATC workshop. We haven't had much response to our workshops yet, do you have any tips please? flower

Workshops are a funny thing, the best way to do them is take a list of people interested and what they are interested in, when you have a few that all want to the same thing take it from there. Just put a sign up asking if anyone would be interested Very Happy Other than that give me a shout if you need any ideas for your workshops. With ATC's it best just to do a make and take just get loads of bits together and encourage people to just sit at the table and have a go... GOOD LUCK you know where I am if you need anything else bounce

It's me again Melissa. The make & takes sound good, but do you charge customers or are they free? Thanks for your tips with the workshops by the way Very Happy

We usually just charge £1 for a make and take but its just to cover the materials, they are great fun because people can just turn up and have a go. People who have just popped in to have a look round the shop who wouldn't have time for a workshop will sit down and make something and they get to chat with other crafters who are doing it too. They can try new things and all get ideas from each other. Anything else you need don't hesitate bounce
